Judging by the responses at that link, the soldering is not optional. Gluing it back in place very unlikely to make a good electrical contact across all four broken pins. And once you've glued it you might not be able to get it off again without breaking something else.

So I wouldn't glue it to just see what happens, not without a better plan. You might want to investigating alternatives to soldering like conductive glue to bridge the gap. It really depends how accessible the breaks are.

If it were mine, I'd probably end up soldering short lengths of fine wire to 4 pads on the board, then soldering the other ends to the broken pins on the connector.

Thanks. Yeah, posting here seeking alternatives. This is not a mission-critical problem at all. It's either try something that might work as long as it doesn't cause more damage, or do nothing. I was not familiar with conductive glue, thanks.

also - depending on the superglue - it is not an isolator, so glueing might connect various contacts, something you definitely not want. As pointed out: soldering it is in this case.

Thanks for the comments--very helpful. New working plan: I ordered Silver Conductive Wire Glue Paste Electrically Paste PCB Repair and a Sugru knock-off (which I need for something else anyway) so use the Sugru imitation to secure the socket to the logic board in the right place and the conductive wire repair for the connections. Thoughts? I am much more concerned about causing harm than getting the right speaker back (though that would be nice).
