I'm still on my Series one and actually amazed that it still holds up great, no scratch on the glass or case except the tiniest spot on the crown when the space gray came off because I scraped it hard on a wall hard. Less than a square millimeter and not visible from normal viewing distance. I wear that thing all the time, go through a (3rd party) strap every year or so, but the watch itself is fine, even the battery. Since I got it used for 100 bucks (and it looked brand new after some thorough cleaning), I don't take care of it at all, i fell on it a couple times, took a bunch of airsoft hits on it, I hit my fist hard on things (you know, making those IKEA kits go together), watch doesn't care.
Apple pay works great, setting timers and reminders with "hey Siri" works great,
I mainly use it for the notifications; that tapping on the wrist is just fantastic, especially with apple maps on silent. Lets you enjoy your podcast or music while driving without ever missing a turn. I love how I can leave the phone anywhere in the apartment without missing calls or important messages. I have the old iPhone SE and when it's on a hard surface and vibrates, it just sounds like an A-10 Warthog shooting the gun, so that silent chachunk on the wrist is much better.
What I'd really love is some watch faces where it's mainly complications, just ditch the dial (the world clock complication is good enough, maybe add a version with seconds) and let us put like 12 modular complications up there. Probably will never happen because Apples doesn't want your watch face to look ugly, but one can wish right? The only reason for me to upgrade would actually be for that bigger screen and the watch faces that can accommodate more complications.
