Supply Chain Prepares for New Apple Watch Models and Third-Generation AirPods

I can imagine that this would be an excellent feature for diabetics. I'm not aware of a precise way to measure blood sugar without drawing blood. I don't know if that is technologically feasible and if FDA approval would be required.

their current market is Type 1 but they're working on type 2 ...

I know it can be done using ECG, which the watch can monitor. As to whether or not it is 100% accurate every time, I can’t say.

Although in perfect condition and performing just as well as day 1, I am ready to upgrade my SS Series 3. I want the ECG, fall detection, and O2 monitoring, as well as the slightly larger size.

Honestly, i think announcements will be boring besides the iPhone.

iPad case has been leaked already and if you own a pro- nothing exciting. Airtags- hard to believe these will be released soon because there has been no leak of what they may look like (I can't remember an apple product that has been released in recent memory without leaking before release). Apple Watch 6 probably looks identical to 5 and 4 since there has been no leaks, upgrade will be similar to last year.

Is it theoretically possible for future Apple Watch models to charge on the Qi system instead of Apple's special 2W watch charger?

I have been so out of the loop with Apple stuff. What upgrade(s) is/are rumored (confirmed?) for the watch? I am still using an SS series 3 and it runs as smooth as the day I bought it.

I think Apple would launch a low cost S3 successor apple watch next week, then save the S6 for launch alongside the new iphones in Oct. This would explain the conflicting info between Jon Prosser and MacOktara/digitimes.

I'm still on my Series one and actually amazed that it still holds up great, no scratch on the glass or case except the tiniest spot on the crown when the space gray came off because I scraped it hard on a wall hard. Less than a square millimeter and not visible from normal viewing distance. I wear that thing all the time, go through a (3rd party) strap every year or so, but the watch itself is fine, even the battery. Since I got it used for 100 bucks (and it looked brand new after some thorough cleaning), I don't take care of it at all, i fell on it a couple times, took a bunch of airsoft hits on it, I hit my fist hard on things (you know, making those IKEA kits go together), watch doesn't care.

Apple pay works great, setting timers and reminders with "hey Siri" works great,

I mainly use it for the notifications; that tapping on the wrist is just fantastic, especially with apple maps on silent. Lets you enjoy your podcast or music while driving without ever missing a turn. I love how I can leave the phone anywhere in the apartment without missing calls or important messages. I have the old iPhone SE and when it's on a hard surface and vibrates, it just sounds like an A-10 Warthog shooting the gun, so that silent chachunk on the wrist is much better.

What I'd really love is some watch faces where it's mainly complications, just ditch the dial (the world clock complication is good enough, maybe add a version with seconds) and let us put like 12 modular complications up there. Probably will never happen because Apples doesn't want your watch face to look ugly, but one can wish right? The only reason for me to upgrade would actually be for that bigger screen and the watch faces that can accommodate more complications.

Actually, I'd love something that goes on my ankle or in my shoe just for the taptic notifications so I can wear a nice actual watch for style. Or a smart strap that you just hook up to a dumb watch and get some of the smartwatch features.

Just get a bigger band

Off-topic: wait, you’re putting IKEA furniture together by punching it?

I don’t know why people expect huge Apple Watch upgrades every single year. Ever since it was introduced in 2015, there has been one big update. The series 4 could be considered a big update. Every other upgrade has been relatively minor.
Series 0:1st generation
Series 1: going from S1 chip to S1P chip
Series 2: S2 chip, brighter display, GPS, waterproofing.
Series 3: cellular option, processor upgrade, Siri spoken responses
Series 4: the big upgrade. New design, processor, EKG, etc.
Series 5: always on display, compass, LTPO.
So it is not at all surprising to hear that the series 6 might have just a faster processor and blood oxygen monitoring. And maybe a better battery. That sounds like a normal year over year upgrade to me.
And for those who want apple to make a round watch, forget it. That would need to have a completely different operating system than all the current watches, given that the current ones act more like computers. Traditionally, computers are squared, maybe with rounded glass. But for them to make around watch, they would have to use a lot more icon and pie chart type elements instead of text. And besides the look of it, there’s no actual benefit to it

That won't be this year unfortunately. Part of the reason iPhone will be delayed is because of the change in design which required setting up new manufacturing process during COVID.
Where did you read this? Or just stating opinion as fact?

I might spring for a Series 6 to replace my Series 4. Waiting to see what the benefits to upgrading will truly be.
Ditto. Went from series 0 to 4. Considered 5, but found the “always on” screen to be so dim that i couldn’t really see it that well anyway, so skipped it. Would definitely consider series 6 if they improved battery life so they could make the “dim” screen brighter, but other than that I’m happy with my 4 for now.

Why would anyone upgrade the watch this year. Faster?? It's a watch, not a work machine.

Because not everyone can or does upgrade every cycle. I’m still on Series 3 with Cellular fingers crossed for real battery life improvements.

So let me get this straight... analysts Mark Gurman and Debbie Wu are reporting that “the next Apple Watch will be a successor to the Apple Watch Series 5.”

Wow, what an insider report!

🙄😅

I don't think you are giving them enough credit. They also predicted the watch will be called Series 6. :D
