Just got myself a second-hand Surface Book 2 15".
I love the machine overall. The only complaint I have is due to the U model processor after coming from a 15" 2016 MacBook Pro TB. The 45 watt i7 CPU in the Mac is noticeable (maybe the superior storage speed as well). But all the benefits of the formfactor outweigh the speed niggles for me.

That looks awesome! She frightens me a little with the knife though hahaha

I was checking out the matte black at the Microsoft Store, looks great on both the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop. How I wish they would have offered the SB2 in that black :)
Even the Logo is a shiny black and not chrome :)

Re Knife did you see how she opened the Pen box

Yeah, first time I had the sound off. I had to re-watch and see if she was Australian and maybe related to Mick Dundee / Paul Hogan hahaha

What's great about iJustine is everyone seems to think that she is an Apple fan girl but she does like other technology as well, she's a big fan of the Surface range, she owns the Surface Book 2 and the Surface Studio.

Well today is the day (UK time) it's make or break for me with the Mac and what Apple announce!

From the rumours i have seen so far, the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil 2 are sounding like bigger upgrades than the Mac, it sounds like the event is going to be more iPad focused than anything else. That's not necessarily a bad thing IF the iPad Pro is pushed forward with more productivity and so on.

The rumour I've heard about the Apple Pencil 2 sounds really good, if correct it sounds like the new Apple Pencil connects to the side of the new iPad Pro and while being stored it charges the pencil. Also the new Apple Pencil looks like it will be getting gestures for swiping along the pencil itself and so on. IF this is true then it could be really good, apps like Photoshop would really take advantage of this.

A friend from the USA will be in my country soon. He will bring with him SB2 15", fully loaded. I already asked that he leaves it with me for a few days so I can test it out, and I will give him my X1C in exchange. He agreed.

Looking forward in testing SB2 out. Never used one so far, but I already know that 3:2 screen will be appreciated :)

I'm interested in what apple will do today, but I'm NOT interested in buying anything at this stage. I'm pretty content on the Mac side of things, and my iPad isn't that old (its just a year old). Still I think it will set the tone for what people will be living with. For instance, Apple pushed the TB has a innovative update that will change how you do things, yet we've not seen it in any other model from apple. Will that change today?

This is a very good point! what Apple announce today will be what people are living with for a while, the new iPad Pro's are said to be getting a redesign and being pushed forward, will the Mac get the same amount of love and attention? that's what i want to see. Yes i'm very interested in what they announce with the iPad Pro especially this redesign and the rumoured Apple Pencil 2, BUT the Mac needs some love and time as well.

BUT the Mac needs some love and time as well.
I hope I'm wrong, and if you ask my wife I am usually wrong :p but I do wonder if the iMac, Mini, MacBook will only see spec updates, and maybe the MBA will see more love by getting a retina screen. of course we could see them discontinuing the MBA and going all in on the MacBook

That's usually the case :D if it's spec bumps i wonder why its taken them this long? is it Intel's fault, I don't mind seeing spec bumps for machines like the MacBook, it was only introduced in 2015 so i wouldn't expect anything major, but the iMac, Mac mini and this new 13" MacBook/Air that's rumoured all need some time.

Only thing of interest to me is the Mac Mini. But I have no intentions of purchasing one, since I'm already building myself a PC. Macbook Air or replacement will 99,99% use butterfly keyboard, so no matter what they put out, I won't even look at it.

To be honest, I really lost any interest in Apple. I'm waiting for MBP redesign, and if they get that one right, I'm back in Apple camp. But that would mean removing butterfly keyboards and gimmicky touch bar. I'm not holding my breath.

As far as touch bar goes, after 2016 and introduction of TB, Apple never once mentioned it on the stage. Developers don't really care about it, and it's really a polarising feature. It's a solution in search of a problem. Personally, I despise TB. It's not that it just doesn't bring nothing useful to me, it's that it took a lot of useful functions away from me :(

I think about the only thing that would be of any interest in todays Apple event, would be an updated iPad Mini, especially if it included stylus support. That interest would be more for my wife than for myself since she uses her current mini a lot more than I use my iPad Pro. I pretty much only use it to check news and weather before dragging my butt out of bed. It has become mostly a nighstand device.

So yeah, iPad Mini would be about it for me :)

So Macbook Air has 3rd gen butterfly keyboard, which is 4 times more durable then previous generation keyboards?
Well, this has to be some of the best trolling ever :D

Considering all the threads in the main section about how flawed and unreliable the Gen3 keyboard are, is this an admission by Apple that the Gen1 and Gen2 keyboards where 4 times worse than we thought they were?

Oh well no update to the iPad mini, guess that Apple is content to sell you a "brand new 4 year old tablet" for $400 if you want to replace your original 2015 model.

Edit: Man they opened up a can of worms offering the Vega Graphics in the MBP's starting late Novmeber though. The hand wringing and wailing has already begun from buyers who dropped their hard earned $$$ on 2018 MBP's only to have Apple now offer GPU options they claim are up to
"60 percent faster than the Radeon Pro 560X."

Way to piss off the early adopters Apple :)

Still on track for a Surface Pro 6 or a GO. Thought the Keynote was one of better in recent years, but not enough to pull me back; iPad Pro is decent jump, Mac Mini finally, equally I have no use for either.

The Air I'm not enamoured with the duel core CPU at this price point ($1,399 for the 256) and Apple is still forcing it's atrocious keyboard, which I've no doubt they will fix the reliability in time, well some time in the future :p I'd rather pickup a Surface Pro 6, as I'll get a lot more mileage out of it having Pen & Touch...

Just priced a Black 256 Surface Pro 6 locally and it's very favourable, given I'll need to pay for a W10 Pro license for the GO and did I say it's black :p

I'm not against advancements, eqaully they better figure out the cooling, as it's hardly adequate for the CPU in isolation, let alone a more powerful dGPU. Then again this is Apple were talking about, so it's not new territory to sell up bigger numbers and charge a premium for it, when they know full well it will never work optimally and or problematic.

I am not against advancements either, but in this case it has only been a couple months? Some people are still in their honeymoon period hahaha.

Reading the description of the Vega it appears to use less power and hopefully generates less heat? They had to do something about the current design limitations I suppose. Too bad they didn’t announce a Gen4 keyboard to go with it :)

Please no one ever complain again how much the MS SP KB costs  or pen for that matter :D
Yikes - $330 (plus tax) for the new Pencil and Keyboard Folio! That is just ludicrous. Previous Pencil doesn't work with new iPad Pro either.

With the cheapest ($999) 12.9-inch 64Gb WiFi option, that's $1330. Considering I got my 2017 Surface Pro i5 8Gb with a Platinum Type Cover in a bundle for $749...yeah. Even the Surface Pen only bumps it to around $850. These prices are just insane.
