Interesting. I can't wait for the Haswell surface 2, although if they just repackage the current surface with a Haswell cpu I doubt I'd buy it. The battery life will be nice, although I hear differing reports on exactly how much battery life ranging from 30-50% which would still not bring it up to the 10.5+ hours I'm used to from the atom tablets. I also didn't like the thickness and weight of the surface Pro so may wait to see what Baytrail offers.

Hopefully we see some Haswell tablets from OEMs as well, I'm curious what Samsung comes out with for example.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if its $799 & 899 when Haswell ships too, either way anyone buying a Surface Pro would be better served waiting a few weeks as even if its $100 less now....

I love Windows OS but this tablet is still over priced.

I will always have a need for a Windows machine although I prefer OSX in every way. This is tempting, and most likely in the future I will use a Surface Pro. I think they need to evaluate still lowering the price and also including the keyboard as standard.

Terrible way to put it. The RT isn't selling at all. Even with its price drop.

They also need to throw in the keyboard with it rather than charge $100-130 extra. More so for the Pro model than the cheaper RT.

I agree. I really want a Surface Pro but they are just too much and then you have to buy a keyboard.

By none, I assume you mean somewhere in the 1 million range since it debuted?

In the tech world that's worthless. In a business as large as Microsoft that's sad.

They just wrote down nearly a billion on unsold product.

Yes, it is terrible that they haven't sold more. But let's not say they haven't sold any, because that's a lie. They made far too many.

"They didn't sell any" becomes "they didn't sell that many". I wonder what the next goalpost move is going to be.

Funny guy. Taking up for poor Microsoft.

I wonder why most OEMs haven't adopted RT. oh that's right, the maker can't even sell it. Microsoft offered a 60% off deal to schools and universities and still couldn't get rid of them.

"They made too many", sad sad sad.

    ----------

Btw, that 1 million range is Surface Pros and RTs COMBINED!

Taking up for Microsoft? No, I'm just going by LOGIC. They shouldn't have made as many as they did until they knew there was a market. They also shouldn't have released RT in the state that they did.

Once again, you're throwing around the "they can't even sell it" comment even though they have sold quite a few (though I wish they had sold more). It's like you're immune to facts and you just want to chant "Surface RT flopped lalalalalala". If you do, go ahead, but you're not making yourself look like a credible person by ignoring facts.

Edit: No, roughly 1.7 million was both combined. Do try to keep up.
Edit 2: As for them still not selling with the mark-down, that's why Wal-Mart recently sold out of the 32GB model, yes? Because nobody is buying them?

I was just thinking all this, it is sad. I will consider a Surface Pro for my main windows machine when they get the product and the price right. I don't use Windows that often nor care to, but it is a necessity unfortunately. If they would just adopt all things Apple I would be much happier. :apple:

I wouldn't suggest they do all things Apple but I'm wanting a Surface Pro for myself.

    RT makes no sense.

It isn't exactly a success. 1 million nearly a year after release is that a success? Losing money is successful now? Read 900 million write off.

They also sold out when they were first released. Stores order limited quantities you know that right?

I'm fresh out of caring about you trying to convince me that RT is selling. How about that, all sold out of cares. You know what, I just sold out of cares faster than Microsoft sold out of RTs. (AT&T guy mind blown face)

Clearly you understood that the last sentence of my post was an opinion, right? I said that would work for me and keep me happy.

So... now the goalpost moves again. First it was that they didn't sell ANY, then it moved to NOT ENOUGH, and now it has finally settled at "UNSUCCESSFUL BECAUSE I SAID SO". A write-down isn't them losing money, btw. Do you know what a write-down is?

Well, yes, I know what an opinion is. I was wondering if you had something beyond "it would help me out".

Surface Pro Price Cut by $100

Sorry my good sir for not typing everything as technical as you like. I didn't know Internet people would take such words as literal thought. Of course we all know Microsoft sold some RT units, sure any logical person knows that.

Writing down something means a profit now? It's successful? I need to catch up with the times.

Didn't mean to offend your reading today. I'm enjoying a sunny day without a cloud in the sky. However that would offend you as well because your response would likely be " technically there are some clouds in the sky".

I guess I should post exact numbers, dates, and time along with the seconds to be in correspondence.

Why do you keep talking about a goal post? Why should care what you are doing with it? Weird.
