Sprint

Someone needs to work on this urgently: As they are going to lock the Sim slot very soon by an update that will be pushed through. We need to have a hack that blocks such an update.....
Thanks

anyone with sprint or verizon service....please test the tmobile and att sim!!!

Thanks greatly

Sprint iPhone 4S

I got my Sprint 4S this morning. I tested the following:

- Pulled the Sprint SIM from the slot, the phone lost service momentarily but regained after 15sec and was able to make calls w/o SIM installed. This is expected since it uses the CDMA radio

- Installed an COMCEL SIM (Colombia Mobile) and it started searching for service and was not able to recover the Sprint signal.

It appears that the GSM radio/selection is the preferred service since it was not able to revert to Sprint CDMA and provide service. I did not expect the COMCEL SIM to get a signal. The test was to determine if the "Invalid SIM" error would appear as it does on a AT&T locked iPhone. So it does seem like the Sprint 4S is currently SIM Unlocked. But you cannot install a INT'L SIM while in the US and expect it to work on CDMA.

I could not find any selector in "Settings" to toggle between CDMA and GSM as can be done on Samsung World phones.

What options do you have under Settings -> Carrier?

With the Sprint SIM, I do not have the Carrier Option.

I installed the COMCEL SIM again and now the Carrier option appears
in "Settings". The Carrier option is set to Automatic, I change it to "OFF", then it looks to be searching for Carriers, but its been over 5mins and its still searching...

OK, it finally finished searching and it lists AT&T and T-Mobile. This is on a Sprint 4S with a COMCEL SIM. But still says NO Services no matter which carrier I select.

Interesting! Perhaps you need an AT&T/T-Mobile SIM?

I just tried an AT&T SIM from an iPhone 4 in an Verizon iPhone 4s new out of the box it showed 3 bars of 3g but no carrier tag and while going through the setup screens it said "Activating iPhone" then said "Invalid SIM" so I think its a no go for the Verizon model until a hack come around. I'll try the AT&T sim after its been activated on Verizon.

If you change the setting in Settings -> Carrier, does that do anything?

did you go to setting and turn off the CDMA radio?....this is only from reading....might not be there

Put your COMCEL SIM in THEN Connect the phone to iTunes. It should then activate and you can connect to ATT or Tmobile. It will say NO SERVICE until you connect the phone to iTunes.

Wow wth guys. Your results seem to be totally different from mine.

I have Iphone 4S from Verizon.

Inserted AT&T Micro Sim and then it says searching and I can even access carrier option in settings for a few secs but then phone restarts and tells me I need to activate it. (even though it was already activated with Verizon SIM)

When I try to activate it with ATT SIM card it tells me that it's wrong sim and only sim from supported carrier works for activation of this particular phone.

Thanks for the vid...btw you can embed it. Just take video's identifier from the URL (in this case "m3X4PP-rFTE") and put it between

Did you call Verizon to get the SIM unlocked? Did you connect to iTunes like MachAF suggested?
