I guess if you’re going to leave your phone where any Tom, Dick, Harry and their nosey children can gawp at it unsupervised then having lock screen notification previews active might be a problem. It would never occur to me to leave my phone unsupervised like that. If I was going to see a colleague in another office per your example, I’d take it with me, that’s basic security, just like not leaving free access to a desk/laptop if I’m leaving the room, or likely to be distracted in a situation where some nosey git might try and have a look at it. There’s screen curtain if you want to leave your phone face up next to you without anything being visible.

I wish there was on option to mask the contact name or number of text messages that appear on the Lock Screen.

There is, isn’t there?

With regards to the OP I concur. It’s crazy that all this stuff is enabled from the Home Screen by default. I’ve switched it all off but not everyone would know to do that. It still doesn’t sit well with me you can open the camera without unlocking the phone with Face ID

I can’t see that option to prevent number or contact name displaying

I absolutely agree about disabling control center and Siri from the lock screen. My notifications aren't readable unless the phone get unlocked by FaceID so I keep those on.

On the other hand people may want to do that based on their unique circumstances. It may drive them crazy figuring out how to turn those on.

No matter what apple does as far as defaults, it won’t suit everyone.

Sorry to bump an old thread but my work just sent out this article telling us we should turn off control center access from the Lock Screen: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/tech...event-thieves-from-making-changes/ar-AA16seIA

I assume this is to try and stop Find My....but I thought they changed Find My so it can use other iOS devices near by (even strangers) to still show the location of the device? Even when off? Or am I missing something?
