Surprised I was able to order a Verizon phone off contract

Not eligible for update till 9/2015. I did pay full price though. But still, I thought it was only initially available for new contracts.

I went through the whole check out process of if you're eligible for an upgrade then said I wasn't but gave me the option to pay full price $849+tax for an iPhone 6+ 64GB.

Nothing new. If you weren't upgrade eligible then you can buy full price. Those who were upgrade eligible don't have that option.

The catch 22 was for those who were eligible for an upgrade but wanted to pay full price to keep unlimited. You could not do that on Apple site. If you were eligible for upgrade, a new contract with the upgrade price is forced on you.
