for the home bar and overall just not fitting on the screen... kinda sucks tbh as it’s been over a month since release. Spotify, facebook, messenger, YouTube and a few important others just haven’t been updated to stop the black borders. I remember the iPhone’s having issues but not for this long with the big apps.

You can’t do more than contact the developers and let them know your frustration. It’s telling in terms of quality service in my opinion to see how the companies you mentioned treat the platform.

Email the app developers. They should be updating their apps. Some may never be updated if the developer is not finding updating profitable.
I have, I have left comments on reviews for their apps. The one I was able to get in contact with was Spotify, nothing else unfortunately

It took awhile for apps to get updated for the iPhone X. Given that phones are more popular and a larger market I'm not expecting most of my iPad apps to be updated all that fast. Heck, some of them haven't been updated in years!

It's been updated for me since the second week of having the new iPad Pro. No black borders on sides when using the UI and no black borders when playing a video. I don't know why you are not seeing it but I know what I am seeing.

are you sure? Not talking about the sides, but top and bottom of the app! The home bar is sitting on a black border for me.

The top of the app has the black title bar and the bottom has the black for the switching app bar, yes I have those. You might not like it but it doesn't mean the app isn't updated. If it wasn't updated you would have bars on the right and left. If there are no bars on the right and left (especially on the 11"), it means the app HAS been updated.

No it doesn’t. All that it means is that the app was updated for the 10.5“ iPad if I‘m not severely mistaken.

Well, at least we know that by March all of the updates will have to support it. Facebook hasn’t been updated and a plethora of games too

The app was updated to auto-width. The app was NOT updated for Liquid Retina, which is the update that would account for the rounded corners, which would remove the black bars at the top and bottom. Until that happens, it hasn’t really been updated for the 2018 iPad Pros.

Do we know when in March?

There’s another very long thread on this subject with a list of apps that still need updating. Also, the google and facebook owned apps are none for taking “forever” to update their screen size.

Weird it mentions apps for iPhone and Watch but not iPad.

It took years for the iPad Pro (12.9 first gen) resolution to be properly & widely supported - so I wouldn't hold your breath...

https://developer.apple.com/ios/submit/

Starting March 2019, all iOS apps submitted to the App Store will need to be built with the iOS 12.1 SDK or later, and support the all-screen design of iPhone XS Max or the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd generation).
It seems messed up that they’re only referencing the Xs Max and 12.9 iPP. No requirements for the smaller devices??

Also, it seems they’ve been terribly inconsistent with updating this as some of the text has been updated since the iPad Pro 2018 launch and some hasn’t. As a writer that kind of thing always frustrates me as it shows the person that updated didn’t reread the copy to make sure they were actually done doing their job.

I believe even though they don't mention, it refers that it should respect the edge-to-edge so it should be covered.

Lol YouTube released an update for the iPad today and I thought it was fixing this. Nope, still got the black bars. I wouldn’t worry though op, its coming eventually. The iPad has only been out a couple of months.

Even my XR has several apps with fuzzy blown up screens because they haven’t been updated to support the resolution yet. And then you have the shame of them all, Steam’s chat and mobile authentication app which hasn’t even been updated for the regular X yet.
