I just went to CarPhoneWareHouse and picked up a £169 iPhone as I sold my old one for £190, and was surprised when I just looked at the firmware and realized it's 1.1.2.

I guess they didn't get many customers since launch. :p

Are you going to unlock and jailbreak? Or just update to 114? Interesting situation.

Leaving it at 1.1.2 at the moment. It's better for jailbreaking, though i'm not going to jailbreak yet.

I also noticed that this iPhone is A LOT louder then my old one. I'm not sure why.

The iPhones made in the last several months had much louder volume on them. I had my iPhone from last summer exchanged in January because I got tired of the low speaker volume. The new one has such loud volume sometimes, I have to turn down the volume when making a call. I can also hear all the different sounds while it's in my pocket, ringer, email and SMS alerts.

Well since my original iPhone was replaced in January, I bought two more iPhones, a 16GB and another 8GB and both have the same loud volume.

are apple just swapping out low-volumed phones then? cause sometimes mine can be annoyingly quiet.

I guess if i can replicate and convince them its quiet..

You got a phone from them with the 2.0 beta firmware on it? Which revision?

How so? All the current jailbreaking techniques require upgrade to 1.1.4, before you do it, I thought... that's the first thing I did before Jailbreaking.

    Sorry that should read 1.1.2

I thought I had the latest version since I only purchased it today, so I went to jailbreak straight away with ziphone. Only after it was done I realized it was old.

Huh... well, if it worked, it worked! ;) To be honest, I've only ever used 1.1.4, since I upgraded my iPhone before I even jailbreaked it. So I've never used 1.1.2 ... if it works fine for you, stick with it!

1.1.4 still has compatibility issues with jailbreaking, for example Apollo doesn't work, customize doesn't work etc.... 1.1.2 can still be jailbroken.
