Apple silicon Macs aren't known for their heat, but Svalt claims that the dock is able to eliminate heat throttling and ensure that the MacBook Pro is able to reach peak performance when in clamshell mode.
Throttling does happen though right? So that’s why the AS aren’t known for their heat. They just throttle back, stopping a Logic recording session with an overload message (I don’t have a AS Mac yet, but that happens on my intel iMac).

It proves that putting the processor inside a laptop or all in one form factor is not ideal for getting the best performance when needed.

They need to separate out the CPU into a mini with integrated fins that doesn’t throttle.

Did they even learn a school course of physics to make brave statements about high efficiency or is it just a marketing bullsh.t?

Congratulations on owning an M1, you can't do what you describe with a late-mode Intel MBP.
It's a work issue, don't actually own one. 😅

My personal MBP is a 2011 i5 running El Capitan. I have that sucker pimped out with an SSD, 16GB ram, a newer battery, a bluray drive, and the Wifi module from a 2012 so I can do continuity. I miss upgradability.

How hot are these MBPs running that this is thing?

Am I missing something?

Depends on what you do. If you just browsing and word editing, etc, they won’t get that hot. If you’re running video editing or music production software, and you have a lot of stuff going on in those programs, they can get very warm/hot.

I can’t speak for the M chips since I still have a 2019 i9 MBP, but when I run Ableton/Logic and I have a lot of tracks with effects/etc, the fan starts spinning like crazy.

3D rendering will get my M1-Pro all the way up to 95C where it throttles.
