Swallowed Disc

My new 2.2 Macbook has swallowed and wont eject a DVD what shall I do?

Just what kind of disk was it. It wasn't one of those mini-cd things was it?

no i dont think but it was a double sided DVD with one side a CD, could this be anything to do with it?

In the slot drives, there's a little lever either on the left or right edge of the slot on the inside that you can get to with a paper-clip. Be careful, though.

I've found that if you turn your machine off & back on again the disc will appear as a device & you can then eject it

Assuming it's not good old fashioned "jammed". That's when powering it off, turning it sideways, and a paper clip become necessary when you turn it back on.
