    Hey guys,

I have a early 2011 macbook pro and early 2011 macmini.
I would like to swap hard drives, macbook pro has SSD and macmini has regular hdd.
    Is this possible?
I am planning to sell the laptop and get a new 13 retina, that is why i am swapping and selling the laptop.

    Thanks

Yes, if both Macs have at least Mac OS X 10.7 Lion installed on their storage devices.

www.ifixit.com has guides on how to dismantle those Macs to get to the SSD and HDD.

Bear in mind that you won't be able to change the drive on the retina.

I think he's selling his old laptop (and swapping that drive) so he can buy the rMBP

Absolutely - it's just not necessarily intuitive that Apple would remove that feature from new machines.
