Swap HD in White MacBook to Black(newer) MacBook?

    My girlfriend has a white MacBook 2.0Ghz that she picked up a couple months ago and I'm going to be taking it over from her so she's upgrading to the black one. My question is, can we just pull the HD out of this one and put it in the new one and everything should be fine? I know with Windows PC's in the past this was a pain sometimes so I want to check first.

    There is always the risk of damage to either machine. Just use the assistant that will appear as part of the start-up when you 1st turn the new Mac on. I have just up-graded from a iBook G4 to a new 17' MacBook Pro. Took about 2 hours to transfer all the data across and everything is as it was on the iBook.

    The assistant will walk you through every thing you need to do. Just make sure you have a firewire cable handy.

    I have done this process a few times now and never had an issue!

    The only issue you may have is that the current install of OS X may not have all the drivers required by the new Black MacBook. If that's the case, just use the restore disc that comes with the new MacBook to upgrade or "archive and install" OS X.
