My wife's old macbook air drive just quit. Won't boot - folder with question mark - boot into recovery: no drive showing - target disk: no drive showing.

I'm assuming her SSD is the issue.

Wondering if there's any reason I can't swap that SSD into another 2017 macbook air to see if it's the drive or the something else.

Any reason I can't swap these in the same way one would an old hard drive?

Haven't had to troubleshoot an SSD before - any tips guidance - greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks, sadly swapped it and same result. Wouldn't boot or show up in the other Macbook Air - looks like the ssd is fried.
