I have a dead iPhone 6 (black) that has a perfect front panel (Let's assume so). I have another iPhone 6 (black) with a cracked glass. Can I merely swap the 2 front panels? I think so, but my only fear is the thumbprint ID will fail. Will that be an issue? Thank you.

I've done this with an iPhone 5S. As long as the Touch ID is also removed and swapped it will work. It's very easy to do actually. Equally so on the iPhone 6 I imagine.

Not so sure it can be done on the later model iPhones without running into problems with the print ID system.
