iPhone XR Swappa/Verizon etc

Considering purchase of an iPhone XR on Swappa
It's listed as

A1984
Unlocked
Unopened Retail Packaging
Never opened or used
Unlocked for Major Networks

My carrier is T-Mobil
If above is accurate...
1) Should phone work with T-Mobil?
2) Could it have been unlocked by Verizon without ever having been been opened first?

It will work for both GSM and CDMA carriers. It’s possible if the seller used third party unlocking or paid in full. I would get the IMEI to do a GSX report sold on eBay to see whether it is unlocked before buying.

Verizon come locked now... so if it is unopened and un-activated... then I think you would not be able to use it until it has been used on the Verizon network and then unlocked by Verizon.

For further reference, they are usually locked for a short period of time. Two of the Verizon XS Max iPhones I have were locked but were unlocked after using them with a Verizon sim in them just after two hours. The other two Verizon XS Max phones I have were unlocked straight out of the box.

I know I can activate older Verizon iPhones with a MVNO (prepay) simcard that uses Verizon network. But I wonder whether this will work with the newer Verizon phones.
