I intend on getting the new seagate momentus XT but i just need to make sure i got my facts right before opening up my mbp(stock 5400rpm drive currently). I am pretty new to mac but from what i read in here, i'll just have to use apps like Carbon cloner to make an exact copy of my currently hard drive and just swap it.

But, if i were to use CC, do i still have to boot from OSX disk or can i jus switch on my mac and it will start up like the hard drives were nvr changed. Also i have a windows partition which i would like to save. How can i backup my windows partition and restore it?

    any replies are appreciated =)

You can make your ccc backup bootable. For your windows partition, use winclone. It's discontinued but should still work.
