Swapping motherboards possible ?

So I was thinking about this, a core i7 with 16gb of ram is around 1000$
I currently have the i5 with 4gb of ram, they go on eBay for 600/700$.

Could I swap them ?

What do you mean by revision ?

Only switch logicboards between late-2012 or 2014 models, not between a 2012 and a 2014 model.

A 2013 logicboard will not fit into a 2014 machine because they are not the same model. Only a 2014 logicboard will fit in a 2014 machine.

If the i7 board is from a 15" model, and I assume your i5 board is in a 13" model, it won't fit, because the i7 board is physically bigger.

I will take a 13" board. Ofc a 15" wont fit.
