Quick question. I'm one of the people who have a 3G phone and I'm not eligible for the upgrade.

My girlfriend would like an iPhone, but the regular 3G is fine with her. If she switches to AT&T as a new customer and I buy the 3GS for her, will we be able to swap sim cards so that I can use the 3GS and she can use my 3G? Or is there more to it than that? Is the phone itself tied to your account?

so then everything is on the sim card then? Your phone is only identified by the info on there, not on the device itself?

Well the IMEI number will still be registered to the original phones, although to be honest I'm not exactly sure what that will do. It may cause problems with different serial numbers too if you ever have to send the phone in for warranty work.

But in what order do we switch SIM cards in relation to when we activate it through iTunes. I'm just scared once I activate the phone on my other family line's iTunes account it's going to sync with that. Will we need to call ATT to switch IMEI or should it do it automatically? Still a lot of unanswered questions I think....
