Can I use a sim card from an AT&T LG Shine II (and yes the Shine is 3g) in my old iphone 3gS, without having to pay for a data plan. I'm talking about using the iphone without data unless im in a wi-fi hotspot.

You can untill AT&T detects it and adds an iphone data plan to your account automaticly.

You can use a pay as you go SIM and AT&T won't add a data plan to that. Otherwise, no.

Yep, like the Cat above said.
Only with prepaid AT&T go sims you can avoid data.
Or jb and unlock it for Tmobile.
