Most people have a charger at their home, office or in the car. So I'm not sure how practical this is.

Could be useful for enterprise use when a crew needs to swap batteries in their work issued phones before they go out in the field. Or maybe have these at an airport where people can quickly swap their battery for a nominal fee?

You'd think they would have highlighted that in their video if that were the case.
The cost is what makes it part of the enterprise space. A family isn't buying this. It was filmed in a kitchen because they're a start up.

The cost will keep it from families. But if you have a number of teenagers in your house, I can see that this could be attractive to some. But the teenagers won't want to use the boring case, they will want something snazzy to their taste and personality. It's a great idea, but way too expensive. For 4 phones, it would be nearly $1000. Yikes!

Coming soon: Swippit Swapper, a device that's designed to replace the depleted 3500mAH batteries in your Swippitt. Conveniently sized to fit neatly into an empty bedroom or garage bay.

I can't get over how gigantic the thing is. I swear to god this looks like an SNL skit

I'm not still sure this isn't a parody.

Behold the Juicero of power solutions.

Too expensive IMO, and, as someone noted above, why not just buy two magnetic battery packs? Also, what happens if you change models of iPhone?

Do y'all remember those swappable battery packs that were marketed at airports about a decade or so ago? I don't even remember what they were called. I think you basically bought a subscription to it and they were largely available at airports (as far as I know). The idea was while you're travelling and you need to, you can swap out a battery and get a fresh one already charged.

When I saw that product, I just rolled my eyes. Maybe this kind of service is for the airline crew whose routes navigate the same airports day in and day out. But more most passengers, this was not a product to subscribe to at all.

Perhaps using a slightly different business model (PAYG, not subscription) these are all the rage in China... they're available basically everywhere. Metro stations, train stations, shopping malls, hospitals... When I visited Harbin, there were even docking stations for them on the street.

I love how they don't show you just how big the case that goes on the phone is, I bet the added weight is significant, plus you lose magsafe

In China they literally have MagSafe ( Qi ) Charging built into most coffee table and USB-C cable for charging. Which means you can be charging it when you are out during lunch. Even Apple's extremely conservative approach we are now at 30W already. We will reach 45W soon.

Along with a MagSafe Battery I fail to see why anyone need this.

And I would be happy to pay extra $100 or $200 for a Solid State Battery that gives double the battery at same weight and volume on iPhone. It could probably do 120W charging too.

I can only charge my iPhone 13 Pro using Qi, as the Lightning connector failed soon after I got it. But Qi (wireless) charging is very wasteful and inefficient. Cranking that power up higher, 30W to 45W, means even more heat and waste. While super convenient, it's not the "ultimate" solution for battery charging.

I'm surprised by the negative comments here. Can't people see that this is how technology evolves? By putting stuff out into the marketplace to see what works and what doesn't? We wouldn't have an iPhone 16 if we didn't have 15 versions before it. This product is a stepping stone to something better.

Not every product evolves into something useful and good. Sometimes a product is searching way too hard to find a problem, which it then fixes heavy-handedly. This product reminds me of the Juicero.

Why not have two mag safe capable battery packs? Smaller, lighter, more portable, just as fast, cheaper.
Because you have to remember to charge those. The main use case for this device is that when you leave the house you can ensure having a fresh battery pack without having to have taken any steps beforehand.

That's interesting. Are the battery shapes all the same? How does that work?

This is clearly meant for enterprises which use iPhones with near constant usage and need an automated way to handle changes. The market is likely very small for this though.
Surely they just plug them in to a laptop and use a headset?

MagSafe has come along way, and like some others have said POS or if you're in an office that drains iPhones...

So $450 for 5 batteries and the swapper THEN another $120(!!!) for a singe case.

$690 For 2 people
$850 for 4 people

Or 4 Anker MagSafe Go bigger 5000mAH for less than the case.
