Hello,

I bought a sierra blue pro max yesterday and love it. To give me time to transfer my stuff over from my old phone, I chose the apple mail in option for my trade in. The phone was bought on the iPhone payment program through citizens one and I plan on using the T-Mobile $500 trade in promotion.

Now I’m thinking however that I would much rather just go and trade in my old phone to the Apple store instead of mailing it in and it potentially getting lost or wrongly assessed. Can I just take it to the Apple store and have them complete the Trade in in store?

Thank you!

I had no problem with this last Friday. I chose "Trade-In" on the Apple site, but took in my old phone in store, they gave me the refund back to my original payment.

*MAKE SURE you tell the employee you want cash back for the phone - NOT gift card.

The trade in kit came last Sat. I removed the shipping label inside and tossed the box into the recycle.

I’d recommend trying the store trade in route based on my current experience with mailing in my 12 PM. Just opened a new thread about an issue with the process.

My one caveat is the availability. I don't know if the mail-in option guarantees there will be the same model you want in the store.... Maybe someone can clarify that?

Thanks everyone for the responses so far.

Just to clarify, I already have my new iPhone 13 Pro Max. I am trying to trade in my old 12 Pro in store using the same order number that was created when I bought my 13 promax as an in-store pick up. When I initially created that 13 pro max pick up order, I selected the mail in option for trade-in but I’m now wanting to just take it into a store and complete the trade in in person.

I’ve already set up my new 13 promax and I’m not looking to create another order and do a rebuy/return.

I initially had the mail-in trade in. I took it to the store after a week of picking up my 13 Pro Max and said I want to trade in and apply to last week’s purchase. They asked me if I initiated an online trade in and I acted ignorant 😆 They did the cosmetic & device checks and just asked for my payment card and refunded it to it. This was in the King of Prussia, PA store. In and out in less than 10 mins.

Thanks everyone. I went to the Apple store and they weren’t able to figure it out. They ended up returning my iPhone and having me create another purchase and then doing the trade-in in store.
