Switch from Edge to Wi-Fi Network

Is there anyway to manually switch from the Edge Network to Wi-Fi? I know you can turn off 3G, but I want to be on the wi-fi network and it keeps staying on edge.
 
Are you next to a known wifi hot spot and the phone isn't picking up on it? Try manually inputting the SSID for the network your trying to access.
