Carrier Switch to AT&T Mobile Share 10GB prior to preordering?

My wife and I are have the FamilyTalk Nation plan and only share minutes/texts and not data.

I've decided to switch to Mobile Share 10gb and NEXT. Does it make sense for me to switch the plans now prior to preordering tonight? I'm just afraid that switching tonight would complicate/prolong the preorder process.

Probably better switching before hand, but honestly you are likely cutting it close as is anyway.

I would make sure the plan even works well for you first. We saved quite a bit on 3 lines along with our discount, but on two lines, I want to say it was a wash or ended up being more.

We'd be saving $30/month by switching to the shared plan. So it absolutely makes sense for us.

The one thing i'm bummed about is losing my unlimited data that i've had since forever, but our combined usage per month is only 5-6gb anyways.

I'm going to switch to the same plan as you but I'll be doing it after I preorder tonight with the next option. I dont think it matters if you do it before or after.

I switched a couple days ago. I want everything 100% in their systems rather than risking the server glitches. The more ducks you have in a row, the better. Too risky to attempt such things during the mayhem IMHO.

Double check with AT&T about the savings. I called yesterday and asked about doing the same exact thing. We are on a family plan grandfathered with unlimited data. The website tells me we can save $30/mo with the shared plan. However when I called, the rep was super helpful and explained that the reason for the discounted rate per line is because the contract is up. If I were to change plans and then renew the contract with preorder, the discount per line is removed and the $30/mo savings would be gone. So I am just going to stick with my family plan and unlimited data and make them pry that out of my cold dead hands.

Personally, I'd pre-order first and then switch plans after receiving the phone. It seems risky to do it right before pre-order. Iirc, they can usually backdate the plan change to the start of your billing cycle anyway.

I'd be going with AT&T NEXT so I'd be getting the $25 discount if I switch over to Mobile Share

I was getting ready to ask the same question and reading this response, i think this is what i'll do. my billing date changed over on the 14, so i think i'll call saturday.

so then when i preorder tonight do i just leave everything alone and preoder with unlimited? or do i order and change my plan to shared 10 (which, if i don't call won't start until i activate my phone next week)?

i was excited to find out we get our FAN discount off on the shared plans! WOOT! even though our FAN is sucky compared to so many others... any little bit helps!

I recommend leaving the plan alone for now and just switching it out after you have the iPhone in hand.
