Darn, looks like the volume and power buttons are no longer covered. Really liked the case for the previous gen mini, but it had some quality issues with the corners cracking/splitting. I think I'll pass on it this time.

Not sure why they did this. The button covers was one of the primary reasons I liked this case. I've been checking daily waiting for the updated version with the rear mic cutout, and then I saw this post. Depressed now. Now I'll have to find a different brand that covers the keys. Loved my cover buddy for original mini. :-(

I went an ordered one to see if I like the setup. The cut-out doesn't bother me and I like their color options. Is there another smart cover compatible case out there that either has smart cover matching colors and/or had the matte rubbery feel?

the site is misleading, is it just showing a Smart Cover to show its compatible or does it come with its own fron that just looks like a Smart Cover

Having ordered a SwitchEasy CoverBuddy for the Air I can tell you it's compatible and does not come with it's own Smart Cover.

The key words are "Companion to your"

"The best companion for your Smart Cover for the iPad mini"

Does this lock the Smart Cover on like the Incipio Smart Feather? Thanks!

No, it just has an opening for the Smart Cover.

Received my CoverBuddy tonight and I really like it so far. I got the red, and I remember seeing in the 1st Gen iPad mini thread that the red CoverBuddy did not match the red Smart Cover very well. It appears they have corrected it as the shades of red a pretty close. I can also confirm that there is now a cut out for the switch and volume button, but that does not bother me. I think it would been more of a big deal if they changed the cut out for the lightning port and speaker grills, but those have remained the same. The matte rubber has a nice feel and is comfortable to hold.

Anyone with the previous version know if the CoverBuddy will fit if a skin is installed on the iPad mini? I might try a skin or might just try to see if I can cut a skin just for the smart cover cut out.

I had the previous version. It did fit with a skin but it was super tight. It also stretched out my skin in some spots when trying to snap the case over the edges. The skin may have also played a roll in the corners splitting over time. Although I did eventually remove the skin when I got a replacement and that one cracked too...hopefully the rMini version is a little more durable.

$20 for a piece of plastic that is stamped in one motion of a press, R&D an equivalent of homework for a 1st semester engineering student, and Chinese worker earning $0.001 per piece?

    Jeez.

I had the iPad 2 version and put a skin in after a while then tried it with the cover buddy and the case cracked.

Welcome to capitalism! :) Same could be said for many other items in your household.

I may try this out if I don't find a cheaper alternative on Amazon.

you would probably flip your lid if you knew the markup on the iPad your putting in that piece of plastic, or did you think those "chinese workers" made more?

If iPad had the same markup as switchcover, it would cost like $50,000.

You can find similar covers for $3-5. Don't support the super greedy ones.

I purchased the black with the rubber coating for my rMini. The best smart cover compatible back case yet and they even through in a screen protector.

Hey guys, received my Switcheasy CoverBuddy for my iPad Air a few days ago. It is a very loose fit, the iPad actually has a bit of movement in the case as it goes left to right a tiny bit, so its really not a tight fit as there is a bit of movement, which kind of helps for taking it out of the case if need be....

It moves around in the case? That can't possibly be a good thing?

By moving around I mean by not even 1mm to the left and to the right, very very slightly
