It’s $9.64 after taxes. I switched in protest of YouTube Premium going up this month. The thing that kept me from switching to Lite sooner is Lite didn’t have background play until recently. I don’t like giving Google money, but I listen to so much content on YouTube that it’s worth it to me.

I just watch what I want and use the skip button on the ads. I’m not paying Google anything.

This is why I use one browser (Microsoft Edge) to stream YT video while browsing in another (Vivaldi). It isn't necessary to use the browsers I use, but a two browser approach eliminates having to pay for background play.
 
Ok, I understand why it’s cheaper now. YouTube still plays ads when playing music and the YouTube app won’t play in the background when it’s playing music.

And yet they still have the nerve to charge you. I think there's a word for that but I don't think it's allowed here!
