3.5mm and Bluetooth headphones.

I use both, mainly using wired ones.

But when use bluetooth ones I turn on bluetooth and connect to headphones but sound remains in the wired set.

I need to go to sound in preferences and swap to bluetooth every time I swap from wired to bluetooth but turn off bluetooth it auto swaps back to wired.

I also note in output there is boom2, which I have uninstalled.
How do I remove it from sound options and is this hindering the switching or is this just normal operation?

Thank you everyone.

When you connect to bluetooth speakers, it should send the audio that way automatically. But if not, here is a brilliant shortcut. Add the speaker to the menubar. (You can do that from System preferences > Sound). Then hold down ALT ⎇, and click the speaker in the menubar, then you can change the system output.

If the Boom2 is still in the bluetooth list, that might be why. Go check your paired devices in the Bluetooth preference pane. If it is still here, you need to remove it.

The 3.5mm is the default when connected. So if it is still connected it will prefer that over Bluetooth. Maybe unplug the wired set before turning on the Bluetooth pair, or get a external audio switcher?

Boom2 is NOT in bluetooth profiler.
So cannot remove it.

But under sound output it shows as an option even though I deleted the app.

The shortcut is most useful, many thanks!
[doublepost=1516131049][/doublepost]well found this terminal code which was to remove boom2 from preferences:

sudo kextunload -b com.globaldelight.driver.Boom2Device

however it did not work and generated this:

Last login: Tue Jan 16 17:50:27 on console

JohnHosingsiMac:~ pentaxpz$ sudo kextunload -b com.globaldelight.driver.Boom2Device

Password:

(kernel) Can't unload kext com.globaldelight.driver.Boom2Device; classes have instances:

(kernel) Kext com.globaldelight.driver.Boom2Device class Boom2Engine has 1 instance.

Failed to unload com.globaldelight.driver.Boom2Device - (libkern/kext) kext is in use or retained (cannot unload).

JohnHosingsiMac:~ pentaxpz$

So will keep searching or email the boom makers.
