i am trying to consolidate my day to day items. I have my 8+, AirPods, keys, and wallet. I got rid of the wallet by getting a case with a slot for cards. I wasn’t sure if i wanted to keep it. It can only hold 3 cards and they are kind of awkward to pull out. So i tried a leather folio case. BIG MISTAKE. Back to the original case with a slot for cards. The under armor stash case.

Wondering if switching cases often can stretch them out. I’m sure the softer silicone can. This is a harder silicone or TPU. Not sure how well they hold up.

Completely depends on the case. On the plus side, switching cases often might loosen them up just enough to make it easier to get the iPhone in and out. I doubt it would loosen them up too much, but again that depends on the case.

So why was the leather folio a big mistake? I'm not really considering one, but I'm just curious what you thought was wrong with it.

Every case with card slots I have seen has been too thin to carry what I need to carry. An alternative is to get one of the many ultraslim wallet/billfolds on the market. You can find a lot of examples here: http://everydaycarry.com/articles/wallets

This company also does some interesting looking stuff, including iPhone cases with card slots. Reviews say 3 is about the maximum number of cards their iphone cases will hold as well though: https://www.ridgewallet.com/collections/phone-cases

I have a pretty slim billfold, but unfortunately it's not as slim as the card holder I used to have. It holds far too much! :( I think it's easier to carry a separate slim holder for your cards. An iPhone case that can hold more will be thicker or larger. I'd rather carry two really slim packs than one thick one.

Everything became awkward and cumbersome. Taking/making calls, texting, taking pictures, and media consumption were just harder. The wallet feature was easier to use. I could get my primary card out and put back much faster. But I need the wallet once in a while. The case must function as a phone accessory 98% of the time.

I have a pretty slim wallet. Just another thing to remember and keep track of. Not so much worried about the bulk.
