Hi,

I am operating using OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 on a late 2013 rMBP. I would like to do a Keynote Presentation and also show another application. For example, in one Desktop I have a Keynote Slide show running. On another desktop I have Microsoft Excel. Once I start the Keynote slide show, I am unable to switch between desktops to show the Excel application.

I have read that cntrl-tab allows switching between desktops but this does not work. I am also unable to swipe the trackpad to change desktops.

Does anyone have a solution?

Cheers,

Donald Barar

Go to slideshow settings and turn "Allow Mission Control, Dashboard and others to use the screen" on.
Doesn't work very fluently, but should help.

I tried that. It does work, but it blinks as does lots of other non-sense. Then Keynote goes away in the the second desktop.

My work around is to have PowerPoint open in VMFusion window then swipe back and forth between OS X where I have Excel open. This works, but if I am performing a screen recording the fans on the rMBP come on.

This is working for me. I had the same problem of wanting to easily switch between a playing Keynote and a website that I had in fullscreen mode (a function of the website - not the browser - e.g. like a YouTube video fullscreened). If I use Safari, when you fullscreen, it throws the full-screen browser on ANOTHER desktop. If you enable the above setting, you can switch desktops smoothly using the keyboard shortcut, but when you go back to Keynote the presentation is minimized for some reason... annoying and disruptive to the viewer. And if you try to Command + Tab when you switch to Safari it switches to a view of the page that says "Click Esc to Exit Full Screen" which is left behind the fullscreened page which is one desktop over... ugh. Point being... Safari and Keynote are wonky with each other when trying to toggle back and forth if you need Safari to be fullscreened.

Keynote and Firefox or Chrome... easily switch back and forth with Command + Tab, no problem, smooth as butter. FYI.
