I bought the iPhone 12 in late October and thought it was the best iPhone I’ve ever had.
By June the battery health was down to 94% and I was regularly having to top up the battery during the day.
Frustrated with the lack of an iPad Mini 6, I started wondering about trading up to the iPhone 12 Pro Max as a sort of compromise. In July I bit the bullet.
Wow. It is awesome. Stunning looking, even in Apple’s clear case, which makes the phone very comfortable to hold. Heavy, yes — the iPhone 12 felt comically light by comparison. The size and weight are not the problem I thought they would be when I’m outdoors carrying the phone in my back pocket: I don’t notice a difference. But it is heavy to hold in the hand for a long time.
Battery life is stunning. Never dropped below 40% by the end of the day.
The camera is ridiculously good. I stood in a dark room, 12 feet away from my pinboard. It was dark enough that I couldn’t pick out individual items. With the camera it was like it was daylight. And with the zoom I could read text.
Zero regrets. I’ve been offered £463 for the 12 by Music Magpie; I paid £849 for it. So the net cost has been about £50 a month. I bought the 12PM for £1,099 on the 0% interest deal, which works out at about £50 a month.
