I recently ordered an iPhone 12 Pro to replace my Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus. I went to a local Verizon store before ordering the phone to look at the sizes, but because they had them tethered and you couldn't really get a feel for the size and weight, I had to make a decision based on what I could tell just by looking at them.

Comparing the S10 Plus to the iPhone 12 Pro and the 12 Pro Max, it fell right between them with regards to the size. After thinking about it overnight, I decided to go with the 12 Pro because I was worried that the Max would be too big and too heavy for heavy daily use. Now that my phone is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, I am starting to worry that I should have gone with the Max. It isn't really that much bigger and the weight compared to the 10 Plus is very similar. I am starting to wonder if I will miss the slightly larger screen if I stick with the 12 Pro (vs the 10 Plus). One other note I frequently carry my phone in a shirt pocket and don't like a heavy / large object in my pocket. The Galaxy S10 Plus was fine, but I am wondering if the 12 Max would be too much.

I am looking for opinions from anyone that may have made the same switch, or even from people who have either iPhone. I am only looking at it from a screen size point of view, not from a camera comparison or any other features. Should I just go ahead and open up the 12 Pro and try it out? Should I have gone with the 12 Max?

I personally would of went with the max considering the S10+ screen is considerably larger than the 12Pro. I know it's supposed to be 6.1 but when I compared it to my 5.8 X it was slightly bigger. I'm actually surprised you can feel comfortable with the S10+ in your shirt pocket, I wouldn't do that with that large of a phone. The max will probably be heavier than your S10+ but size should be similar

The S10+ is really pushing it as far as size in my shirt pocket. I did get used to it, but that is one of the reasons I was worried about getting the max. with a larger phone, there is a greater risk of the phone falling out if I lean over. One of my other concerns is carrying the phone in my pants pocket. I don't like having a bunch of stuff in my pants pockets, so a larger phone might be a problem.

My wife has an iPhone 11 which is very similar in size to the 12 Pro. I like the size of her phone. That is one of the reasons I originally picked the 12 Pro over the Max. I really wish Verizon would let you actually hold the phones without a huge bracket and a cable that only pulls out 6 inches. It would have made things much easier.

I am sort of leaning towards going ahead and opening the phone and trying it for a few days. I know I will have to pay a $50 restocking fee if I open it, but I really think I can get used to the size of the 12 Pro.

Take into account the max would have been wider and certainly bulkier... I think you have made the right choice with the 12 pro.

I decided to stick with the 12 Pro. Unless I stick the two phones side by side, I don't feel like I have lost any screen space. So far, I am really happy with my decision to switch from my Galaxy 10+.

I carry my Pro Max in my front pants pocket, so an extra few ounces isn't an issue at all. Then I read about your shirt pocket... there you would definitely notice the size & bulk. You probably made the wise choice.

I did a picture side by side with my 12 and S10+. I noticed on the new iPhone’s you can’t zoom out YouTube anymore.

I'm an apple sheep but I'd return the 12 Pro and keep the S10+. IMHO, I think the S10+ generation was the greatest Galaxy line up Samsung came out with. Until it becomes unusable, I'd then look into Apple maybe around 2022-2023.
