Hey everyone,

i have been with Verizon for year and I’m thinking about switching from Verizon to straight talk. I always preorder my iPhones whenever they come out, but I’m not sure if I will be able to do so if I’m on prepaid. Would I have to wait for the SIM free version? Or would I still be able to pre-order?
Thank you!

Yes, you’d have to get the SIM Free version from Apple or if any big box retailer is selling them, or unless Straight Talk allows you to preorder.

Some years, the SIM free is available at launch. Some, not. Generally, when demand is higher the SIM free model is delayed.

actually, on launch day, all iPhones purchased at full price from the Apple store are UNLOCKED. You can stick in your straight talk SIM card. You would chose which model though, for e.g, att Iphone pro, itll have an att sim, but it is unlocked. just replace it with the sim of your choice.

Be sure you have coverage where you will be using it. I predict you will be missing Verizon.

StraightTalk uses Verizon towers, afaik (or at least they offer that as an option). Only issue with MVNOs is potential deprioritization.

I've had that happen with RedPocket-Verizon. iPad on Verizon postpaid was working normally. iPad on RedPocket-Verizon, cellular data was practically non-existent (time out on same webpage I accessed on postpaid).
