I am finally making the big switch from a pc to a mac. For years I have worked in Microsoft Works (not word) on my PC and have a number of .wps files. Are these files compatible with MS Office for Mac? If not, what do I need to do to convert these files?

It doesn't look like the files (at least not with the latest version of Word)are compatible but there are a couple of converters.

If you still have access to a pc, there's a free program from Microsoft called Works to Word Converter. You can find a guide and download link here.

If you can't use the pc, i found a paid-for app for OS X called FileJuicer which you can try out here
