I'm finally replacing my old Airport Express (2nd Gen) as the only wireless base station in my house and moving to a mesh network system. I'm sure setting up a new network will be easy, but dealing with the countless smart home things (smart plugs, Amazon Echos, Ring Doorbell) and moving them over to the new network seems like a daunting task.

Does anyone have any recommendations for how do do this the easiest? My gut tells me to leave the old wifi network up and live so I can continue to communicate with the smart home stuff while I'm moving it over. Any do this recently and have some tips?

make sure you set it up with the same wifi name and password, as well as type of security (probably WPA2)

and your devices should connect to the new wireless with no changes to their settings.

I’m using the same network name for like the last 3 routers for the same reason.

Same name and password and you’re good like it never happened

Thanks. Such a simple solution and it worked like a charm.
