Swiftkey has the option to "Enable Full Access" which could lead to 3rd party seeing what we type. Swype does not.

Does that mean Swype doesn't have the option to enable full access, and they are completely sandboxed...

Curious, because I can't seem to find the setting for swype so I am hoping they don't do that like swiftkey.

Swype doesn't do the predictive recommendations does it? I think that is why SwiftKey needs that option

Swype has the option to enable FULL ACCESS. In their support website they say the information doesn't leave your device. You don't need full access to use Swype (unless you download another language but you can disable after downloading the new one).

I wouldn't use Swiftkey because of that.

I suggest you read this topic start post to know more about full access and 3rd party keyboards.

If you want to be secure and want to use swipe then i would suggest you either use Swype, Path Input or Touchpal which don't need full access to work (although some features do not you to set it to 'full access' and in some cases temporary - download some languages for e.g. Swype).
