Synaptics ClearPad Technology

I am sick of wating for a new ipod. If apple uses this wont it mean that they will not have the toutch screen ipod out until sometime around the end of the year?:mad:

And how can this screen use two finger input and proximity sensing in an interface if Apple has got this patented? Questions, questions!

Surely Apple wouldn't have an exclusive deal with Synaptics-- Synaptics has the right to advertise their technology to bring in other partners. Just like we know what Apple's next processors will be before the product ships.

The magic is in what Apple puts behind that little touchpad. The interface Synaptics is showing is pretty useless...

yeah i agree, Apple has got to get a new ipod out before the holiday season

Isn't it a no-brainer that Apple will introduce some kind of iPhone?
The big questions when... IMHO Apple needs to get the ass of the wagon if they want to keep their market share.
 
Again:

Clear touch technology + application changing interface = a new trick for an old dog.

Cell phone, iPod, Smart Phones; all with the ability to adapt to you, not you adapt to it.
 
I want a big one of those, a white desk and a beamer. This way I could put this touchy stuff on the desk, beam the screen on the desk from above. Give With the virtual keyboard (OSX's "show Keyboard Viewer") on, you don't even need a keyboard anymore (unless you type a lot...). Now that qould be an awesome workstation ;)

"Clearpad" also sounds very similar to the "Non Touch" thing Apple patiented several weeks ago, either way promising technology if the price is right :cool:
 
I tried out jeff han's FTIR experiment today. works like a charm. I think I'm going to use it as a midi controller for my protools rig.

lucite+IEDs+Infrared camera+projector + THE BEST INGREDIENT: MAX/MSP!!!!!!!!

I m really getting bored of all these rumors bout iPhone, new iPod, merom MBP/MB etc. I dont know how you guys get all excited with any hint of a rumor. I dont really care for these rumors no more. No one knows what Apple has in store for us and we wont find bout it before it is launched. No one knew bout the MacBook release date even a second before it was actually released. So there is no point in getting all pumped up every time there is a news/rumor related to an Apple product.

All I do is wish for the new iPhone to arrive asap.

Care to explain, or do I have to wait till the next issue of MAKE to show up on my doorstep?

How many LED's did you use? Do you have any software yet?

You do realize this site is called "MacRumors, right? ;) That's kinda the whole point of the website, to, you know, report "rumors".
 
no comments since 9 this morning!? is my browser broken, or has this been the slowest rumor 5 days in recent history?
