Sync Calendar with Google but Reminders with iCloud

I haven't upgraded to Mountain Lion yet, but I'm hoping someone can give me a good answer on this.

Currently I have an iPhone 4S (latest iOS) and a MacBook Pro running 10.7 / Lion (latest updates).

I sync Reminders via iCloud but not the Calendar... I still sync the Calendar with Google Calendar because I prefer it.

I want to carry on doing this in Mountain Lion but having read reviews and seen screenshots like this one it seems as though Calendars and Reminders are now part of the the same switch / toggle and therefore have to be done the same way.

Can anyone tell me if you can sync Reminders and Calendars independently in Mountain Lion?

    Thanks

It's the same switch, but why would it stop you from being able to keep on using Google's calendar?

Because you can't sync with both of them, it's one or the other.

Shouldn't it be like mail where gmail sync to Google and iCloud mail sync to iCloud even when you switch on sync iCloud for mail? I just can't see how it can sync your Google calendar to iCloud if you don't import it to iCloud first.

Perhaps it will help if I explain like this...

I want my reminders to stay in sync across my MacBook Pro and iPhone (and eventually, on the iCloud website when they launch the new reminders page on there).

I also want my calendars to stay in sync across my iPhone and MacBook Pro, however with calendars I don't use the iCloud website, I use the Calendar page on Google's site.

I want these to carry on this way, independently of one another.

I want them both to sync across my devices, but one to go through iCloud and one to carry on in Google Calendar.

Is it possible in Mountain Lion?

Google calendar has nothing to do with iCloud syncing, so yes, you will get sync both calendar and Reminder. Switch it on, it will sync your Reminder but not calendar because you don't have iCloud calendar. Your calendar will be synced through Google as it always is.

Huh? I can have iCloud, Gmail and Hotmail calendars syncing at the same time, both on the computer and on the phone. Mountain Lion and iOS 5 (latest version).

Also, it would be the easiest thing in the world to just either un-tick the boxes next to the iCloud calendars, or simply delete them, and they would cease to exist for you.
