I was pleased to be able to register today, and I attempted to follow the (less than perfectely clear) instructions on setting up the account. The good news - I can send email. The bad news - I don't seem to be receiving email on the phone. All I get in the inbox is the message "Load 25 More Messages . . . 161 messages total, 0 unread"

I have at least one new, unread email in my email box, so it's not that there aren't new emails to see.

I re-checked the account settings on the phone and things look OK. I did notice in that process that Synchronica has apparently changed the mobile gateway host server name from www.syncml.biz to www.trymobilegateway.com. Not sure if that has anything to do with this.

Any tips from anyone who has actually gotten this to work?

Thanks,
I got it working on my iPhone. Go to www.trymobilegateway.com and register. Enter your company's webmail information. Click on manual configuration and setup the iphone using www.trymobilegateway.com as the host address.

Incoming Mail Server
Host: www.trymobilegateway.com
User name: yourname@yourcompany.com
Password: (your login password)

Outgoing Mail Server
Host: www.trymobilegateway.com
User name: yourname@yourcompany.com
Password: (your login password)

Advance:
I left SSL on. I found 2 sets of setup instructions. One says turn it off, the other, has it enabled.

Trouble sending

Is anyone else having trouble sending email ? I can connect, get the mail, however when I send a mail it takes about 10 minutes before the message is sent out.

I tried with SSL on and off and still same response

Well, mine stopped working. It worked when I first set it up but as it started pulling down my mail messages the mail crapped out on the iPhone. It would show a message but not show the title and I couldn't click and read the email. I Deleted the account from the iphone and set it up again. Now it pulls the mail folders but nothing comes into my in box.

Is it working for anyone ?

It stopped working about a day ago and I can not seem to get back in. I changed over to trymobilegateway and it worked great for a day then stopped.

Anybody else having the same issues ?

I agree about the third party / credentials issue. But in reality the only clueless thing is thinking any email is really secure.

Pfft, signed and encrypted email IS pretty secure. Especially when it requires CAC or some other biometric method for decrypting. Storing the certs to do the decrypting on the machine isn't so bright though.

Mine worked for about an hour. I tried emailing techincal support (3 times) and no reply.

They suck!

I have actually not had any issues since my phone was reset last week. It has worked good for me ever since. I'm sorry others are having difficulty.

There is a way around this obnoxious tagline they stick on the end. Use a gmail account setup just for your work to send smtp email with. Works like this. Setup Gmail account and make your work email address the default email address for the gmail account. You do this under Settings --> Account. Then use this gmail account as the way to send email.

I hate to bring a post back from the dead, but has anyone else heard anything about this? It seems the method above would cause a message to fail an RDNS lookup and mail would be rejected by most corporate Exchange servers.

I saw a Microsoft employee's blog where he said Apple was going to purchase licensingto use ActiveSync. Has anyone heard about any movement there?
