I'd have my work and home iTunes pretty much the same. Periodically I turn off "manually manage music and videos", to synchronize my iPod with my home computer. I wish I could leave this synchronized on all the time, but when I do this, I cannot access my iPod songs at work.

Sometimes I will have some time at work, and I search for composer and lyrics for songs, setting them up on my work iTunes and my iPod. I tried changing them in my iPod and dragging them to iTunes, but that created a duplicate.

And when I synchronized at home, the lyrics disappeared.

There are commands that I avoid like the plague - they don't do what I think, but instead empty out my iPod. I suspect this is so I could have multiple iTunes installations - one with Christmas, one with Rock, etc., when my library is bigger than my iPod.

How do I get lyrics and rating at work to my iPod and home iTunes without jumping through hoops?
