Syncing and the need for identical accounts on each device

Our MBP admin account is through my Apple ID; our new iPad 3 is my wife's and is registered with her Apple ID. What do I have to do to get the two devices on the same account info so I can sync things from the MBP to the iPad?

Yes, I am a novice in these matters....
