Syncing iPad to iTunes on new iMac question

I'm getting a new iMac (first mac) this week I have a few questions about syncing my iPad.

I'm going to start a fresh with a new iTunes library as I'm coming from a pc the only way to transfer is to consolidate all my files, I'd prefer to have my music arranged my way.

So

When I first sync my iPad to iTunes on new iMac I realise my music and videos will be deleted.

What about my apps on my iPad will they be transferred to my iMac or will they be deleted?

Will my bookmarks, calendar and contacts details be transferred from my iPad to my new computer or will they be erased from my iPad?

What happens to my music purchased from iTunes?
