Syncing iPhone puts all my deleted Safari bookmarks back into Safari

Hi, I've recently gone through and deleted A LOT of saved bookmarks in Safari on my iMac. When I recently synced my iPhone to my Mac it put all those old bookmarks back into my Safari. Why is this??!! It's really very annoying.

Any help cheers
