I would like to finally sync my iPhone 6S to my MacBook Air after about six months of not doing so. When I connect my iPhone I only have options to restore from a six-month old backup or to restore as new. How can I get beyond this without formatting or reverting my iPhone to an old state? I'd just like to sync some music and get a backup and also copy some pics and videos from it to back up. Thanks in advance.

Can anyone help me out? I really just see these two options and I'm afraid to click either in fear of formatting my iPhone to a new state or reverting it to a 6 month old backup.

Just tell it to set up as a new phone. In this case, it means the same as "do not restore from a backup" and does not affect the current content on the device.

Additionally, you would probably receive a faster response in the iOS or iPhone sections.
