iPhone XS Max Syncing Iphone XS Max to my Mac

This morning when I connected my iPhone xs max to my computer via USB a message came up that I needed to do a software update in order to sync. When I clicked on more information it went to Apple Support page. I did the update and the iPhone performed a sync. Has anyone else experienced this?

If that was your first time connecting with the new phone, the message seen was real and necessary. I received the same my first time.

It’s normal. Nothing to be concerned about.
