Syncing mail on mac with iPhone?

Does anyone know why when I open my mail on my mac and download the messages they are deleted from my iPhone. I am not subscribed to MobileMe. In fact they are also removed from my the online gmail site as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check your Mail settings on:
1) Mail app in your Mac
2) Gmail online

Depending on how your settings are, your mail will behave.

Also check in iTunes how is your iPhone synchronization for the email.

Once you are clear about all of them, then it is very easy to make them work like you want them to.
