Syncing mail

Ok, so I have a hotmail address which I've setup to download all mails to my mac through the original mail client.

Is there a smarter way of syncing this with my iphone then just setting up mail download to my iphone as well?

If you use IMAP your mail is always synced.

I will check this out, had missed that support for that was added
