iCloud Syncing messages with iCloud to restore deleted text on phone?

I accidentally deleted a text thread on my phone but that thread still exists on my Mac. The two computers are not synchronized using messages in the cloud. If I enable messages in the cloud, will the text on my computer be restored to the phone?

edit: a iCloud restore to the backup from two days ago ended up solving it so I didn’t ever try the procedure mentioned above
