I'm sure I used to be able to share notes with a colleague via iCloud but we both run yosemite and although our ical apps sync perfectly and our mailboxes we cannot work out how to share notes. Ideally i'd love to be able to have a shared to do list on the side of ical so that either person could apportion time to each task.

Any idea?

Other than a separate Exchange account I don't know of a way for the Mac's Notes app.

You can share specific Reminders lists between two iCloud accounts.

The Mac's Calendar app doesn't have an incorporated notes or reminders section. However, the calendar app "Fantastical 2" does incorporate the Mac's Reminders into its interface but I don't know how well it works.
