Syncing problems with my new iPad and MacBook

Hi guys, I'm in need of some advice.

I've got a new iPad which I set up straight from the box via iCloud. It hasn't ever been connected physically to my laptop.

But, I now want to put some movie files onto the iPad which are in iTunes.

I've just connected using a wire and iTunes has recognised it, but says 'Set up your iPad' - start from scratch or use a back-up of an old iPad from early 2011!

Obviously I don't want to do either, because as far as I'm concerned it's all set up and all I want to do is add some files.

Any idea what I need to do? Help greatly appreciated... 😕

Click set up as new, and it'll recognize that it's already set up. Not clear at all, I know, they really need to fix this.
