Syncing used iphone to itunes?

I recently purchased a used first generation iphone which already had apps on the iphone, how do sync the iphone to my itunes without erasing all of the apps thats existing? would i need to reinstall another copy of itunes on my computer?

Authorize the computer and just transfer purchases.

I get the feeling OP, who has "bought an iPhone which already had apps on the iphone" hasn't and doesn't want to buy them himself. Tell me if I'm wrong 🙂

OP, if somebody else bought the apps on their account they must authorize your computer in order to transfer the purchases.

But you could buy them yourself. 🙄
